Wales Poised to Make a Big Impact at World Cup of Darts

Jonny Clayton has issued a bold statement of intent as he and fellow countryman Gerwyn Price prepare to launch their assault on the 2025 World Cup of Darts, aiming to claim Wales’ third title in the global doubles showdown.

The Welsh duo, champions in 2020 and again in 2023, return with one goal: bring the trophy back home.

But standing in their way? A stacked England side featuring world number one Luke Humphries and teenage phenom Luke Littler – the new-look pairing looking to defend the title they seized in 2024.

“They can talk about the Lukes all they want,” Clayton told BBC Sport Wales. “Me and Gezzy know what we’re capable of. We’re a proper team – he’s a brilliant front man, I’m happy as his wingman, and together we click.”

Now the second seeds, Wales aren’t just showing up to compete – they’re coming to disrupt.

“Hopefully we’ll do some damage this year,” Clayton added. “Lifting that trophy for a third time? That’d be massive.”

The 2025 World Cup of Darts kicks off Thursday in Frankfurt, Germany – and the fireworks are about to begin.
