A big part of darts is the entertainment, and some players make it their mission to get the crowd on their side. A lot of these players are remembered for years to come, and here are ten players that you could call this sport’s equivalent of Adel Taarabt and Benjani – streets won’t forget.
Paul Lim
An incredibly well-known name within the sport of darts at this point, Paul Lim is almost too popular for this category, but his aura screams of streets won’t forget. The first televised nine-darter in 1990, almost repeated this feat against Gary Anderson in 2018, and has defeated multiple top-class players at the World Championship like Luke Humphries at the 2021 event. Paul Lim is the man, and he certainly won’t be forgotten any time soon.
Rashad Sweeting
The first player from the Bahamas to compete at the World Championship, Rashad Sweeting captured the hearts of darts fans both inside Alexandra Palace and around the world with his performance against Jeffrey de Graaf at the 2025 tournament.
Sweeting took the first set, and pushed the Swedish star all the way, including the iconic 180 set-up followed by the ‘Cold’ celebration made famous by Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers. Rashad Sweeting was the fan favourite of last year’s tournament, and everyone hopes to see him make a return to Ally Pally another time.
David Munyua
This year’s tournament has many contenders for this list, but David Munyua is our pick. Mr Why Not shocked the world when he beat former World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker in round one, representing not just Kenya (the first to do so), but the whole of Africa. Munyua brought with him a mix of entertainment and clutch finishing, and although he may have been sent packing by Kevin Doets in round two, the 30-year-old will be remembered for years to come.
William Borland
The creator of one of the World Darts Championship’s most iconic moments, William Borland will never be forgotten on the Ally Pally stage. ‘Big Willie’ took part in an incredibly dramatic first round tie with Bradley Brooks at the 2022 Worlds, in which he hit a nine-darter in the deciding leg of the contest, a moment which sent the crowd into raptures and has been used on highlight packages ever since.
His run wouldn’t go any further than that, but that match and that moment is, and will always be remembered.
Kirk Shepherd
It feels strange to include a World Championship finalist in this list, but the circumstance of Kirk Shepherd’s career means his run must be talked about. At the 2008 championship, Shepherd went from being an unknown player (and only qualifying through the PDPA) to a runner-up, beating the likes of Terry Jenkins, Peter Manley and Wayne Mardle on his journey to the final, losing 7-2 to John Part in the final.
The biggest underdog to reach the final, Shepherd is also a black belt in karate. He has so much aura for someone that only really showed up for one event in his entire career. The World Championship will always remember Kirk Shepherd.
Rene Eidams
Let's remember that Thanawat Gaweenuntawong and Rene Eidams were on record territory at one point pic.twitter.com/cbqMPk626n

Rene Eidams may have competed in just one World Championship back in 2016, but he certainly impressed. Despite only averaging 69.25 in his preliminary round match against Thai player Thanawat Gaweenuntawong, Eidams went on to face Michael van Gerwen in round one and take him to a tiebreaker in the final set.
The German took out an impressive 122 finish on the bull in the first leg of the match, setting the tone for what was a classic encounter. He may have lost to ‘Mighty Mike’ in the end, but Rene Eidams gave those watching a match they will never forget.
Co Stompe
A more well-known name on this list, Co Stompe was a mainstay in the late 2000s and put in some strong performances in the World Championship. Stompe reached the quarter-finals in both 2009 and 2010, and in those years, he was a fan favourite, with his iconic long-sleeved shirts and his entertaining performances. ‘The Matchstick’ had the game to back up the fun and is a player that is fondly remembered in the Phil Taylor era of darts.
Chengan Liu

There is only one thing Chengan Liu is known for, and it is still up there as probably the most iconic moment of lockdown darts. His walk-on before his 3-0 defeat to Darius Labanauskus at the 2021 Worlds will always be remembered, an aura-filled entrance to the emotional tune ‘You Raise Me Up’ that will send goosebumps racing around your body. Forget his darts, Chengan’s aura will live long in the memory of darts fans.
Jamie Lewis
Jamie Lewis’ career may have never taken off in the way people expected, but his run at the 2018 World Championship will never be forgotten. ‘Fireball,’ who was a PDPA qualifier, shocked everyone as he made the semi-final, beating the likes of Jonny Clayton, Peter Wright and Darren Webster to set up a final-four clash with Phil Taylor, in Taylor’s final tournament.
Lewis would lose this match 6-1, but to make it that far and to be the last player Phil Taylor would ever beat in his professional career is something he, and the darting world, will never forget.
Dean Winstanley
A big name on the BDO circuit, Dean Winstanley came over to the PDC in 2012, and during his brief stint on the pro tour, he would make a name for himself, including creating a special moment at the 2013 World Championship. He made the second round, where he faced Vincent van der Voort in a match he was expected to lose.
He did, but in defeat, he hit a perfect nine-dart finish, and wheeled off in celebration, a moment that has been replayed every year since. He lost that match, but he won the hearts of the fans both in attendance and watching around the world and is the definition of a streets won’t forget darts player.
