The Premier League of Darts is right around the corner, so let’s get to know the class of 2026.
Easily one of the most entertaining and divisive figures the sport of darts has ever seen, Gerwyn Price is known for his fiery passion, power scoring, and signature roar. He is also among the most talented sportsmen to have ever competed in the PDC, due to his success across multiple sports.
‘The Iceman’ has one of the most decorated resumes in modern-day darts, having won The Grand Slam of Darts three times, The World Grand Prix, The World Series Finals twice, and, of course, the World Championship of Darts in 2021, where he became the first Welshman to lift the Sid Waddell trophy.
In addition, he has won the World Cup of Darts on two occasions with Welsh teammate Jonny Clayton, nine European Tour Events, four World Series of Darts, and twenty-one Players Championships, taking his total number of PDC titles to forty-three.
Price’s storied sporting career started in rugby, where he played rugby union for both Neath RFC and Cross Keys RFC in the Welsh Premiership, as well as rugby league for the South Wales Scorpions. He ended his rugby career in 2014 to pursue darts full-time. He is also an avid snooker player in his spare time. When he isn’t dabbling in various sports, he is the owner of Chippy 501, a fish and chip shop in his hometown of Markham, Wales.
Gezzy had become quite infamous for being the pantomime villain of the darts, who’s on stage antics have landed him in hot water with the PDC on numerous occasions. He has quietly gotten the fans back on his side in recent years, so it’s safe to say he won’t need to bring his ear defenders to block out the crowd jeers this time.
The 40-year-old will take part in his eighth Premier League campaign, as he looks to win it for the first time in his career.
