The teenage sensation stunned Michael van Gerwen back in January with a jaw-dropping 7-3 victory to lift the World Darts Championship title at Alexandra Palace. Having fallen just short the year before against Luke Humphries, Littler made no mistake second time around – pocketing a cool £500,000 and making history as the youngest-ever world champion.
Fast-forward a few months and, with Littler now topping the PDC Premiership, the 17-year-old’s attention has turned from trebles and bullseyes to something a little different: getting his first car.
No supercars here
You might expect the newly-minted star to be eyeing up a flashy Lamborghini or a souped-up Ferrari. Not Littler. Instead, the “Nuke” has set his sights on a Mercedes A-Class — a classy yet sensible hatchback, far removed from the extravagance that often follows sudden fame.
Speaking after his Ally Pally heroics, Littler admitted:
“Last year I was looking at driving and I loved the Ford Focus, but now I’ve gone up in the world just a little. I’ve always loved a Mercedes A-Class. Just a small car.”
One small problem…
There’s just one hurdle standing between Littler and life behind the wheel: he still hasn’t passed his driving test.
“I haven’t had driving lessons yet because it’s been so hectic,” he revealed. “But I’m going to have to do it before I get into my twenties when it’ll be too late and I can’t be bothered.”
And when the time comes, the darts prodigy insists any new car will be a gift to himself, from himself — no flashy handouts or sponsor gimmicks.
Staying grounded
Despite a whirlwind few months that’s seen praise roll in from the likes of David Beckham and even Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Littler has stayed refreshingly down-to-earth. His modest car choice speaks volumes about a teenager determined not to get swept away by the bright lights of fame.
